Week 3, Thing #5

I created a Flickr account and uploaded some of the pictures that I took while I was at NECC. I spent a lot of time looking for a picture to blog. I finally decided to use one of the pictures that I took while I was at NECC to avoid the copyright issues.

NECC
Originally uploaded by What we've been doing

I took this picture as I was leaving NECC. It has the magnolia and the iste logo which are both reminders of a great conference. The sessions that I attended were excellent. I heard David Warlick, Tony Vincent and Annette Lamb and they were all wonderful. The Atlanta planning committee did a fabulous job. The "School Library learning 2.0" was even mentioned in one of the sessions that I attended.

I also uploaded some pictures from my husband's 60th birthday party. These were pictures that I was supposed to send to relatives, but hadn't. I decided this might be an easy way to do it . Uploading the pictures was easy. The problems started when I tried to share them. I made several attempts and on the third try, I was successful. Everyone was excited about finally getting to see the pictures and impressed that I was actually able to share them.

I didn't like the way the post looked, so I edited the html code and made some other changes. It still isn't exactly the way I would like it, but it is better than it was.

Hooray! You're back!

Flickr rocks. I haven't uploaded anything (I need to), but I put the RSS feed for my nephew & niece & their little one in my aggregator (nymph dement on flickr). Very cool way to keep up with what they're doing.

As for copyright, there's a great way around that worry--Flickr has a way to search for photos that have a creative commons license. Click on
Search
Advanced Search
Put a check in the box marked Only Search within Creative Commons Photos.
Then type in your search term and voila! You get only photos that you can use with attribution, etc.
There's a link explaining Creative Commons too. Very handy.

Thanks for the tip on searching for photos that have a creative commons license.
